Communication between parents and teachers is essential for effective child care.
Parents’ input: please inform us of any suggestions or ideas you may have that will help us to improve our program in anyway. Your input positive or negative is always welcome. We send home evaluations for parents to grade our program at least twice a year. We also have a parent input box in our front lobby. You may also verbally inform your child’s teacher. Records: at all times your child records are available to you. This information will be given to no one else without your written permission. A parent has a right to add information, comments, dates and other relevant materials to the child’s records. Upon written request these records will be transferred to you or any other person you identify when the child is no longer on our care. All information is shared with each staff member. Please note that the EEC has the right to view your child’s record at anytime. Progress reports: all infant & toddlers will have progress reports completed every 3 months. All full day, year round students will have progress reports completed every six months including an informal evaluation and beginning of the school year, along with daily observations and assessments. Parents will receive a photo copy of all progress reports and a copy will be kept the students file. Any student on an individual guidance plan will have a progress report completed every three months. Communication folders: are sent home daily in your child‘s backpack to keep the lines of communication open between you and your child‘s teacher and to send home any notices. Daily sheets: every day you should receive a daily sheet. This will give you general information on how your child ate, slept, and how overall day was. Please feel free to use the lined paper in your child’s communication folder for any basic questions you may have. The teachers will also write any extra comments or reminders in this folder. Newsletters: newsletters are sent home at the beginning of every month by email. The newsletter keeps you informed of any upcoming events, reminders, and academics for the month. Attached to the newsletter is a copy of our monthly song and book list. Wipeable boards: located outside each classroom is a wipe-board. This board will keep you informed and encourage conversation with your child about his/her day. Also, there is a bulletin board outside each classroom that displays the monthly newsletter and calendar. Any important notices, events and sign-ups will be posted here for you to see. Daily phone calls: so that our teachers are not taken away from their class, please try to call during nap time. If you are unable to call at this time, please write in your daily folder what time it would be good for us to call you. Obviously, if you have an emergency or pertinent information, you may call at any time. Our staff make an effort to have monthly phone conversations to touch base on your child’s progress and keep you informed of any upcoming events. Parent/teacher conferences: take place two times each year (or at the request of parent). Please note: in the event the parents do not speak English, in order to communicate effectively with families whose primary language is not English, we have a staff member who speaks fluent Spanish. We also offer emails and can put all parent information in writing so that families may get the information translated into their own language. |
