PROCEDURES
1. Correct the child orally. Be sure the child knows what
you expect of him/her. If necessary, do this several times.
Offer a choice.
2. If this doesn't work, remove the child from the area then
tell them why.
3. If the problem persists, remove the child from the room for a
"talking to." Please leave the classroom door open and
stand where you can be seen and heard from the room.

4. If the problem cannot be
solved, a phone call and/or meeting should be set up with the
parent(s). This conference should take place as soon as
possible.
5. Under no circumstances should the child EVER be hit or
struck. Corporal punishment shall never be used..... including
but not limited to spanking.
6. No student shall be subjected to cruel or severe
punishment, humiliation or verbal abuse.
7. No child shall be denied food or drink as a form of
punishment.
8. No child shall be punished for soiling ,wetting or not
using the proper toileting facilities.
9. Actual Techniques
a. review problem situations (rules)
b. re-direct student (puzzles, books, etc.)
c. speak with student before placing in time out
d. speak with Miss Denise if problems persists. When Miss
Denise agrees,
an incident report should be done and signed by parent.
At this time a parent will be spoken with by a head teacher
only.
10. An individual behavior plan can be done only with written
consent of parents.
- TO PREVENT PROBLEMS
1. Have precise rules and regulations about classroom
use, be positive and clear.
2. Be sure the children understand all the rules
3. Provide the student with a choice whenever possible,
i.e., build with blocks or play with something else...
instead of throwing the blocks.
TERMINATION POLICY
The Busy Bee
Pre-School/Day Care shall use the following procedures for
terminating a child from the center:
A child
may be terminated from the center under the following
circumstances:
* The health and safety of the child, staff
members, or other students at the center cannot be assured.
* The child's developmental needs are not
being met at the center.
* Tuition has not been paid.
* Parents do not agree or follow Busy Bee
's Policies and Procedures listed in their contract.
* Undue burden. Parents will be notified in
writing within 30 days of undue burden factor
and how to contact
OFC. Toilet training not undue burden.
* If a child brings in hazardous items or
illegal drugs.
* Non-Compliance with required parental
paperwork.
* Inability of parents to deal in a
professional manner with program personnel or other parents at
the center.
* excessive bad language.
Step #1
Parents will be given a verbal warning to see if any of
the above areas can be improved without having to terminate
the student.
Step #2
Parents will be notified in writing as well as with a
face-to-face meeting, when possible, about the circumstances
including the reasons for termination. A copy of this letter
will be kept in the child's file.
The director will inform parents of the availability of
information and referral for other services.
The lead teacher will handle the Good-byes of a student under
these situations in a manner that the student can comprehend
and feel good about him/herself.
- SUSPENSION:
The Busy Bee Pre-School /Day Care shall use the following
procedures for suspension of a child from the center:
Step#1
Parent's will be given a verbal warning to see if
any of the above areas can be improved without having to
suspend the student.
Step#2
Parent's will be notified in writing as well as with
a face to face meeting when possible, about the
circumstances including the reasons for suspension. An
incident report is completed and parent signs the report.
Copies of this report will be kept in students file and
one is given to parents.
The director will inform parents of how long the
suspension will last and that termination is the next possible
solution.
- Referral Service Plan:
The Busy Bee Pre School/ Day Care shall use the following
procedures for referring parents to appropriate social,
mental health, educational and medical services for their
child should the center staff feel than an assessment for
such additional services would benefit the child.
7.10 - Referral Service and Termination:
(a) Whenever any staff
member is concerned about a child's development or
behavior and feel that further evaluation should be done,
they should report it to the child's classroom main or
lead teacher, who will review the concerns with the
administrator in charge ( according to administrative
plan.)
(b) If the administrator agrees, the lead teacher is
requested to complete an observation report and review the
child's record prior to making the referral.
The administrator will maintain a list of current referral
resources in the community for children in need of social
, mental health, educational or medical services. This
list shall include the contact person for Chapter 766 and
Early Intervention Program referrals.
(c) Referral Meeting With Parents:
The director schedules a meeting with parents to notify
them of the center's concern and prepares a current list
of possible referral services.
At the meeting, the director will provide to the parent a
written statement including the reason for recommending a
referral for additional services, a brief summary of the
center's observations related to the referral and any
efforts the center may have made to accommodate the
child's needs. (see attached form).
The director will offer assistance to the child's parents
in making the referral. Parents should be encouraged to
call or request in writing an evaluation. If parents need
extra support, the center may, with written parental
consent, contact the referral agency for them.
If a child is at least 2 1/2 years of age, the director
shall inform the child's parent(s) of the availability of
services and their rights, including the right to appeal,
under Chapter 766.
If a child is under the age of three, the director shall
inform the child's parents of the availability of services
provided by Early Intervention Programs.

- Follow-Up to the Referral
The director will, with parental permission, contact the
agency or service provider who evaluated the child for
consultation and assistance in meeting the child's needs
at the center. If it is determined that the child is not
in need of services from the agency, or is ineligible to
receive services, the center shall review the child's
progress at the center every three months to determine if
another referral is necessary.
The director/ lead teacher will maintain a written record
of any referral, including parent conference and result. A
referral checklist will be kept in the child's record.
